Elite Dangerous is a space simulation video game developed and published by Frontier Developments. It takes place in the year 3300, where the player may play the role of an Elite pilot attempting to build their own power and legacy among a galaxy-wide interstellar empire.Elite Dangerous is available on PC with both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. The game was released for Microsoft Windows in December 2014, for Linux on February 8th 2015, for OS X on February 15th 2015, and subsequently became available with Xbox One support later that year. A PlayStation 4 version was released on June 27th, 2017 after being available as a timed exclusive for Project Morpheus. The game supports virtual reality head-mounted displays. The game is the fourth installment in the Elite video game series, and the first major release in thirty years since Frontier: First Encounters, which was released in 1995. The player starts off with a small starship and a few credits to make money legally or illegally by trading goods between planetary ports or by joining factions to further their status within them to buy larger ships with better equipment by continuing to play the game. The game originally supported the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, but support was later dropped. A new supported headset, the HTC Vive, was added on October 5th, 2016. Elite Dangerous is set in the year 3300 on the fictional planet of every star system has its own planetary system with approximately 100 billion planets. The player controls an interstellar craft and travels through hyperspace to reach these planets and return back to where they started. The game features optional cross-platform play between Windows, macOS and Linux users. The game features a travel system similar to the "Elite" series and Frontier: First Encounters. The player is able to jump between hyperspace routes at any time using the flight computer, which allows the players to enter other star systems and trade with them or attack them. The flight computer can be modded to give certain effects such as infinite fuel consumption, gravity effects on jumps, and various other things such as warp maneuvers. The game also involves trading commodities between planetary ports that are usually located around the planets they are on. The commodities found in planetary ports include various types of minerals, foodstuffs, equipment, fuel, weapons and ships. This is not only applicable to the player but for NPC pilots as well. The game has multiple scenarios to play in, including missions, conflicts and open space encounters. All of these objectives are generated randomly. The missions involve jobs by the various factions of the game to accomplish certain objectives, usually involving escort missions or trade jobs. Completing these missions will gain benefits such as reputation points allowing the player to access better equipment and ships. Conflicts involve two or more factions fighting each other while encounters are free-for-all battles involving many different pilots at once. The game originally featured a multiplayer mode but it was removed due to unbalanced fights with certain "superhuman" players, which is why it had been made optional in the first place. cfa1e77820
